Guest Machines

Work with the Concierge

Describe what you want in your own words, and let the Concierge set up agents, workflows and triggers with you, change them, or find out why something isn't working.

The Concierge is the assistant built into Guest Machines. Tell it what you want done in your own words, and it works out which agents, workflows and triggers you need, sets them up with you, and tells you where each one lives so you can run and change it yourself. It can also look into why something isn't working.

Start a conversation

On Home, describe the outcome in the box under What would you like to get done? and choose Start Building. The conversation opens in Chats, so you can come back to it later and carry on.

Say what should happen, what starts it, what it works with and how often. For example: "Every morning, email me a short summary of the new documents in our Knowledge library."

How it works with you

  • It asks before it guesses. When something isn't clear, the Concierge asks a few questions, each with suggested answers. If you skip one, it uses the answer it marked as recommended.
  • It proposes a plan. Before building anything, it lays out what it will create and how the parts fit together, and waits for your go-ahead.
  • You approve every change. Everything it creates or changes waits for your approval in the chat, and creating something also asks you to type a short confirmation. If you deny a request, nothing is created or changed.
  • It works as you. What it creates belongs to you, and the agents and workflows start out private to you. It can only do what you are allowed to do in the workspace.

What it can set up

  • Agents, each with a job, a description, and tools chosen from the ones you can assign. Google Workspace tools are the exception: you add those yourself, and the Concierge explains how.
  • Workflows that run agents one after another, split work across agents at the same time, repeat steps until a review approves the result, or run another workflow. See Build a workflow.
  • Schedules that run an agent or a workflow on a regular cadence, and inbound webhooks that run one when another service sends an event. When it creates an inbound webhook, it shows you its URL and token once, so you can connect the other service.

Change what it built

Ask the Concierge to change something, and it changes it in place instead of building a new one:

  • For an agent, it can change the instructions, the description, and the shape of the answer the agent returns.
  • For a workflow, it can change the steps, the name, the description and the input it expects. It reads the workflow first and changes only what you asked for. If the workflow changed in the meantime, it reads it again before saving.

A workflow change isn't saved when it would stop a schedule or inbound webhook from running that workflow. The Concierge tells you which ones, so you can decide what to do. Runs that already started keep the version they started with.

Find out why something isn't working

Ask the Concierge why an automation didn't run, or didn't do what you expected. It can look at the agents and workflows you can see, your schedules, inbound webhooks and runs, and the workspace's usage. Then it fixes what it can, with your approval, or tells you exactly where to make the change yourself.

What stays with you

Some changes are yours to make in the app. When one is needed, the Concierge explains what to change and where:

  • An agent's tools, model and approval settings: Agents, then the agent.
  • Sharing a workflow, or turning one on or off: Workflows.
  • Turning a schedule or inbound webhook off.
  • Secrets and API keys an agent needs: Connections & setup → Environment.
  • Allowing an outside domain: Settings → Egress Policy.
  • Daily limits, budgets, model rules, billing and members: Settings.
  • Google Workspace: connecting an account, choosing files, and giving an agent access. See Use Google Workspace.

The Concierge never deletes anything.
